Community Voice drives healthy, climate safe neighborhoods.
Community Voice drives healthy, climate safe neighborhoods.
Climate change is accelerating, disproportionally affecting historically redlined Chollas Creek Watershed neighborhoods which are most vulnerable to heat and climate-related risks.
To adapt to our changing environment, the voices of the community are essential in communicating neighborhood-scale climate challenges to decision-makers to ensure fair and equitable climate mitigation and adaptation investments.
Ways in which Groundwork supports residents to engage, advocate, and see results:
-
One-on-One
When we interact with residents, students, community groups and businesses, we listen to their needs, build relationships, and share how they can be a part of making change happen.
-
Resident Advocacy Training
In sharing knowledge of climate issues and community challenges, we build trust and hope with residents of all ages. They are then inspired to join us doing the “groundwork” to advocate for policy and infrastructure changes that will create a climate safe neighborhood.
-
Community Groups
We support community planning groups, who are amongst our most dedicated and inspiring change agents.
-
Community Leaders
Hundreds of community leaders representing schools, faith institutions, nonprofits and neighborhoods have joined with Groundwork as voices for change.
-
Local Government Officials
We work closely with elected officials and City staff, linking decision-makers with resident stakeholders.
-
Student Voice
Student voice is powerful, and at the center of all of our climate justice efforts.
