STEM and the Seeds of Stewardship
This educational program, delivered at the EarthLab in partnership with University of California San Diego, San Diego State University, SDG&E, amongst others, is designed to reach the thousands of students who live within and go to school within walking distance of the site. Educational instruction and informal science education are developed and delivered with a specific goal of improving STEM objectives for 5th-12th grade students, and preparing these students to enter the global STEM job force.
Students visit the EarthLab on a regular basis, as part of their instructional day. Project practices are grounded in principles derived from proven models and evidence-based research that focuses on direct experience with real world phenomena. By providing students with opportunities to participate in authentic science experiences, the IEE program will enhance their potential to meet and exceed California’s “Common Core State Standards” in English Language Arts and Science and support the development of a more scientifically literate society.
